Screen Versions


Please refer to the names used on this page when ordering Fortune's Finder.

Identical markings are applied to each element in the system, focusing screen and insert,
with the exception of format labels.  Labels appear only on the insert.
The diagrams below depict motion picture format markings within the 35mm still frame (24mm x 36mm).

Combo (please use this name)
This screen includes multiple formats: 1:1.85 and TV(Safe Action) within the Academy Aperture.
Outside of Academy, the 1:2.40 aspect ratio, as it would appear within the Super 35 Aperture, is included as a size and aspect ratio reference.
(Note, on film, the Super 35 Aperture is not centered on the same point as the Academy Aperture.  We have pictured it it so for reference purposes.)

1.85 (please use this name)
This screen shows the area of the 1:1.85, theatrical image within the Academy Aperture.
TV(Safe Action) corners are included for protection reference.

TV (please use this name)
This screen shows the area of standard TV (Safe Action), 1:1.33, in the Academy Aperture.
1:1.78, HDTV corners are included for protection reference.  The 1:1.78 width is the same as 1:1.85.

HDTV (please use this name)
This screen delineates HDTV and SDTV with common top and bottom lines within a Super 35 Aperture.

Super 35 (please use this name)
This screen shows the 2.40 aspect ratio within a Super 35 Aperture.
 
 

We have a patent covering the application of this system in the motion picture industry and other fields.  The system can be applied to various fields including but not limited to astronomy, cartography, architecture, engineering, etc.  It is not limited to but can be employed in microscopes, cameras, or telescopes.  It can be used with photographic, video, or most any optical recording medium.
